Microbiological Guidelines: Support for Interpretation of Microbiological Test Results of Foods.

Food should be tasty, healthy, sustainable and preferably not too expensive. But food should also be safe and with sufficient guarantees on maintaining good quality aspects until the end-of-shelf life. The various actors in the food supply chain have an interest in verifying the expected quality and safety by means of microbiological analyses of food. Measurement brings knowledge and microbiological guidelines help in the decision-making process for judging the acceptability of food or food production processes.

The present handbook provides microbiological guidelines and current applicable EU legal criteria (status 1.1.2018) for a wide range of food categories (dairy, meat, seafoods, plant-based foods, bakery products, composite foods, shelf-stable food, water) and subcategories therein, based upon the type of food processing and intrinsic characteristics of the foods.

This book can be consulted to provide quick answers on the expected microbiological contamination of foodstuff. It can help in interpretation of test results in assessing good (hygienic) practices in the production of food, determining the shelf life and ensuring food safety.

L’Association belge pour le droit du travail et de la sécurité sociale (ABETRASS) a consacré sa biennale du droit social 2016 à la thématique des sources du droit social. This book is not meant to come up with the typical ten point plan that you find in the plethora of books on “how to…” or “finding the shortcut to…”. It is simply not realistic to impose the one and only way to become a performance beast. We cannot be made immune to personal emotions and our brains work in a very unique way and therefore it seems illogical to accept the restrictions of such ten-point-plans. Dixie Dansercoer surely does not want to preach, generalise or standardise training methods to manipulate people into becoming high performers. Our brains may be trained just like muscles, but people cannot be as easily manipulated as flesh and bones.

Un expert judiciaire a peu à voir avec la justice !

Oui, à bien y réfléchir, un expert judiciaire a peu à voir avec la justice. Et c’est plutôt « tant mieux ! » car il s’agit d’un professionnel qualifié en tout domaine autre que le droit. Sinon, il serait juriste ou avocat. À bien des égards, ce technicien habilité par un juge pour donner un avis éclairé sur des faits précis - avis susceptible de dénouer une affaire - constitue l’élément neutre (et peut-être bien le seul) d’un tribunal.

Car, contrairement à la croyance populaire, selon Jean Giraudoux « jamais poète n’a interprété la nature aussi librement qu’un juriste la réalité. » Conscient d’intervenir dans un contexte profondément humain, c’est-à-dire passionnel, l’expert judiciaire s’interdit par conséquent de livrer un sentiment ou de juger. Par contre, il jauge, contextualise, explique, précise, détaille…

Du coup, son comportement cartésien ne sera pas forcément des plus bienvenu. Aussi, pour accomplir sa mission d’auxiliaire des tribunaux, l’expert doit se forger une aptitude propre à surmonter les embûches de la procédure, des stratégies et des émotions des parties ; et ainsi faire face aux enjeux du litige pour, in fine, dégager une « vérité du fait » qui induira la « vérité du droit » ; ce que propose ce livre.

Outre le traitement de nombreuses questions, l’ouvrage aide aussi tous ceux qui se passionnent pour le sujet - spécialistes, étudiants et néophytes - à mieux appréhender la mission de l’expert judiciaire, sa gestion, son cadre juridique et la formulation de son rapport. Ainsi armé, le lecteur pourra reprendre à son compte la pensée de Saint-Paul : « le monde serait meilleur si vous l’étiez ».

La reconnaissance formelle d’un droit ne garantit pas son effectivité. Le non-accès et le non-recours aux droits sont une réalité dont l’ampleur est plus grande qu’on ne l’imagine généralement et qui touche particulièrement les personnes les plus vulnérables.

Dix ans après sa création, le Conseil du Contentieux des Étrangers a à cœur de se faire connaître du grand public par le biais de la publication d’un ouvrage. Sa première partie est consacrée à la présentation des différentes compétences et procédures du Conseil ainsi qu’à l’organisation interne de cette juridiction administrative indépendante.

Dans la seconde partie de cet ouvrage, l’abondante jurisprudence du Conseil fait l’objet d’une analyse détaillée. Vu l’ampleur de cette jurisprudence, l’option d’un recueil traitant de sujets spécifiques a été retenue.
