Sylvie Sarolea is a professor at the Université catholique de Louvain and teaches immigration law, private international law and human rights law. She holds an MA in law from the Université catholique de Louvain (1994) and a PhD from the same university (2004). She is also a lawyer, specialised in international law since 1994. Her main research interests are the relationship between the national sovereignty and the rights of migrants and the harmonisation of EU asylum and migration law. She has been the director of the EDEM centre (Équipe droits européens et migrations) at UCLouvain since 2011. She is also an expert for the Council of Europe and a member of the Odysseus Network.
