Catalog 2015

Being creative, pushing boundaries and surprising. This is what Modular Lighting Instruments stands for and it is also reflected in their catalogue. Rotor developed the concept and die Keure made it possible. This publication won the prestigious iF Design Award.

The iF Design Award is one of the world’s most celebrated and acclaimed design competitions. Every year there are more than 5,000 submissions from 70 countries.

The theme of the catalogue is powerful and intense visual imagery. The cover consists of hundreds of lasered holes creating a woman’s face. In addition, of the 25,000 printed copies 1000 were personalised in the same unique way: the client’s name was lasered onto the cover - making this edition a collector’s item.

In addition to the original cover, the colour management of the inside is also unique. Die Keure carried out four processes on all 750 photographs, so 3,000 processes in total. Firstly all images have the same horizons to put the dividing line of ceiling and wall in the same place. Secondly all photographs have exactly the same grey balance. And finally the natural shade of the spot was adjusted throughout.
