Mark Rothko (1903-1970) is regarded as one of the most important artists of the twentieth century. His exhibitions attract crowds of people and his paintings are auctioned for tens of millions, which is unusual for abstract art.
This publication is the richly illustrated catalogue for the successful Rothko exhibition in Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, from 20 September 2014 to 1 March 2015.
Contributors include Joost Zwagerman, Franz-W. Kaiser and Harry Cooper. The book also includes a detailed biography and an interview with art historian Henk van Os, who regularly visited Mark Rothko in his studio during the last months of this life.
